I think you have multiple problems. The head lights probably just need new bulbs. The missing could be caused by bad spark plugs and wires. You may want to replace the coil pack while you are at it.
The no heat issue could be the heater control valve.
Full of Regets, not stomping on your toe,s,but there is no control valve on the 2000 ford f150,but there is a blend door actuator that controls the heat to cool, but i have worked on a lot of these same trucks, and most of them end up being a pluged up heater core.
Missing and back firing is also caused by a bad fuel pump, should check the fuel pressure, it should be 30 to 45 psi.
TST - how about this? http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/2000/ford/f150/climate_control/he ater_valve.html
I looked that up, and it dose show a heater control valve,
I agree F_O_R.my mistake, but most of this year model does not have them, and yes year 90 to 98 does,i havent seen one with one over 2000 model, but not saying there is,nt,just worked on a 2003 today, was not one on it,the problem was a blocked heater core, made some good money today changing it out$$$$$.
From what I have seen and heard about no heat situations, like T_S_T says 90% of the time the heater core is plugged, and if that is so and there is a heater control valve in the system, stands to reason to have that changed also, as that would have build-up in it also...
