First, Are you sure the starter is the issue? Take it to an auto parts store, they can test it for you free of charge. If it is bad you can first try to rebuild it. It is very easy to rebuild the starter. There are a few great youtube videos on it with great information. All you need is a few basic tools and some grease re-grease the gears inside.

Automatic...seems we have a bigger issue. I am thinking this for sure outweighs starter.. the head blew a rod into oil pan. This truck has less than 100,000 miles, has been taken good care so that was a shock! 4.2L v6 engine. What other vehicles would a motor/ tranny be interchangeable?
