2003 Ford F150 4.6L Triton misfire and lose of power

Asked by Killinfreak May 19, 2020 at 06:25 AM about the 2003 Ford F-150 King Ranch Crew Cab 4WD SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a misfire that keeps happening on #2,#3,
and #7 cylinders. I have replaced plugs, coil packs,
injectors, fuel filter, air filter and camshaft knock
sensor and cleaned the MAF Sensor. I have pulled
all the plugs and coil packs again and tested all of
them and work fine. I did compression test and all
cylinders were around 113-115. Engine codes are
coming up for o2 sensors running lean on banks
#1 and #2 but have always done that way prior to
the problems. I get the misfires at idle speed and
when on the highway in overdrive. Truck shakes
pretty bad. If i give it throttle the active misfires go
away and truck smooths out. After about 45 mins
of driving the truck looses torgue. I can barley
climb hills and at some points i will have it floored
and it will barely go or stall out. Every time i
changed out plugs and coil packs and put back
together the truck would run pretty good for about
45 miles or so and then it would go back to the
same.
Only thing i can think of doing next is replacing the
PCM.
Any suggestions on where to look next or
something i maybe overlooking?
Flat cam? Timing off and truck not adjusting? Im
pretty much lost on what else.

Measure the fuel pressure and check the catalytic converters for damage and being plugged up. You would have been dollars ahead if the vehicle had been taken to a qualified mechanic.

That’s an asshole answer, Bob. Many owner/amateur mechanics know their own car better than anyone else and do fine maintaining their own equipment.
