#5 fuse blows only in reverse

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My #5 fuse, runs a/cl, cruise, reverse lights, electric door locks, only blows
when I put the truck in reverse and back up. Will stay good if I only go in
reverse, but if I move the truck 5' backwards, the fuse will blow. If I keep the
truck in drive, it runs great all day until I have to back up. Any suggestions?

It appears the fault is caused because of vibration and a chafed or burnt wire. Begin checking the wiring from the back of the truck (underneath) for shorted wires, working toward the front, paying close attention to wires running to heated surfaces on or near the engine. Earlier model Ford Rangers experience a similar problem which often was traced to a chafed wire within the steering column,
Start by isolating the problem by disconnecting the plug over spare tire, if it doesn't blow anymore, ur problem is from the plug to rear lights, if it still blows then the problem is from the plug to the steering column
If you have a trailer light hook up, check it out for a short.
