My car started shutting down , sputtering,. Battery
light on. . I've had to jumpstart it couple tms in a
month.  Then it quit , while driving. Is it positive to b
alternator

You can go to almost any autozone or advanced auto etc. store and the will run a free check on both the battery and the alternator.
