I have a 2004 f150 that needs a new engine. My neighbor wants to buy it from me. What is a fair price?

depends on how bad the engine is...whats wrong with it and the rest of the truck????? need more info!
Condition of the truck, model (XL, XLT, Lariat, etc.) miles? Engine size? 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive? Color? All are important in determining price.
5.4 XLT Triton, 4 door, 220,000 miles, 2 wheel drive, dark grey, new transmission installed 3 years ago, hard cover on truck bed, body is in very good condition. (Plus a full tank of gas...that's gotta add $90 to the price right there..haha!) Sorry, I don't know squat about cars besides how to drive one. I hope this info helps
As far as what's wrong with the engine, a friend took a look and said something about Pistons being bad and causing metal shavings to get into the oil. He said my engine is done.
Metal shavings probably plugged the camshaft oil galleries causing it to eat up the valve train. Likely wasn't the pistons that caused the problem, but the engine is likely toast. Value? I wouldn't give more than $1500, but it would have to be pretty slick. It might actually be worth a little more than that. Hard to give an accurate opinion sitting behind this computer screen.
