I have a 2002 Chevy Malibu and when i turn the key in the on position all of the lights come on but when i try to start it up the car turn over but won't start in the lights dim out. What couldit be?

Its your battery. Don't buy an Autozone or walmart battery. THEY ARE JUNK! A/C Delco, Interstate, NAPA gold, heck even a Sears Die-Hard is better than Neverstart(Walmart) and Neverlast(Autozone). Spend a few bucks more and get a better battery.

My 2011 Malibu was doing the same thing. I found a list of reasons why online. I followed one suggestion of tapping on the driver side trunk ( where fuse box is) and it worked. I had the fuse box replaced twice now but no longer an issue. Cheap wiring I assume. The fuel pump fuse is in there and that’s the one that was all black. I don’t know anything about cars but I did find these forums helpful so before you go and replace the starter a bunch of times try that.
