Replaced Ignition Cylinder and key won't release

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My radio would not turn off and my battery would drain over night. I took it to
the dealer and they said it was an issue with the Ignition Cylinder. I replaced
the ignition cylinder and performed the Relearn process to reset the Anti
Theft system. The car turned on and the key released properly from the
cylinder twice but on the third attempt the key would not release. I made sure
that the vehicle was in the Park position and the key would still not release.
Do I have to replace the ignition switch too?

Update: It seems that when I push the gear shift towards the left once it is in park, I hear the gear lock and then I can completely turn off the car. I have not figured out what is causing that issue

The shift lever has to be moved back a and forth while in park. [Must be worn or needing linkage lubed.] It should always be able to turn key off after Shifter lever is wiggled.
