05 f150 5.4 3v

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Bought this truck a couple years ago after the 1st
oil change it started tapping an rattleing so now
thats its paid for time to fix it rite orderd a kit that
came with
phasers,chains,guides,tensioners,vct,crank
sprocket and oil an water pump got the tool to time
the crank.   Did the work got it all together an still
have a rattle but also the driver side bank was
down didnt matter what you unplug injector or coil
no diffrence but i think this is a bad vct causing
that.  But im curious why i still have enough slack
in the chain to hit the wheel the crank sensor reads
off of maybe a bad oil pump havent checked the
pick up tube yet gonna pull the pan an check all
that soon as i get time but im also wondering
about putting the factory oil pump back on it
depending on what the pick up looks like any insite
would be great im new to these 5.4 3v

Cam phaser replacements tend to fail shortly after installation. I suggest a phaser elimination kit if you cannot get this sorted out. I would worry about the slack. Is the tensioner working?
