Electronic issues on F150

Asked by Brpate Aug 04, 2018 at 11:51 AM about the 2006 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just got an electronic air horn/PA installed on my
2006 F150 by a professional EVT service, and a
couple days later started noticing some electronic
issues. Sometimes when I turn my truck on, the
radio is set to AM 590, which it does after I’ve jump
started it. Today it also began making an electronic
sounding popping noise from what sounded to be
coming from under the drivers seat or under the
rear seats. The popping happened about every 15
seconds and the ABS and BRAKE warning lights
turned on at the same time as the popping. My
question is; what exactly is causing this to happen
and how do I get it to stop?

I cannot offer the exact cause, only this info. Most systems in your vehicle are controlled by electronics. When attaching any aftermarket device. it should never be connected to some random source of electrical power. A new electrical lead should be installed at the battery with it's own fuse and ground as to not interfere with other electronic systems. See if you can determine how your system was installed, it could be the problem.
