How do I get the key lock from the outside of the door out of the door?

Asked by Brooke Jun 16, 2016 at 03:50 PM about the 2006 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew Styleside 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Someone tried to break into my husbands truck, and it pushed the key hole
into the door. It got twisted and has locked the doors. Any idea how to get this
out from the outside? Key fob he no longer has.

Remove the inside panel of the door. With the window in the up position you'll have to removed the clip which held the cylinder in place, then remove the rod/mechanism which is attached to the actual lock. Small hands a "plus" here, so hand around with him. He may need a dainty hand. Hopefully you will not need body work on the door to hold in the new key cylinder.
