4 Wheel Drive

Asked by jmullins70 Sep 16, 2009 at 02:14 PM about the 2006 Ford F-150 FX4 SuperCab Styleside 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 06 f-150 that I love. It started doing somethin real strange and I wonder if someone could help? It acts as if the left front automatic 4-wheel drive hub is trying to engage on its own when the truck is in 2wd. It only does it in 2wd. If you put the truck in 4 High it runs perfect. Any suggestions on what it may be?????????

There is a solenoid in the engine compartment that activates the 4WD system on your truck, it is most likely the culprit and is quite common. There is a forum called Ford Truck Enthusiasts that is great to belong to, any question you have and the forums have the answer. Good Luck!
