Left rear brake and blinker light.
Asked by Robert Mar 02, 2016 at 12:10 AM about the 2006 Ford F-150 XL SuperCab 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My left rear running light works fine but the brake
and blinker light will not work. Fuses inside the cab
are good. There is a black wire that looks like a
ground wire inside of the tail light cover that is loose
and has a naked end on it. The black wire runs back
down under my bumper. And when I say inside the
tail light cover I mean we're your sockets and bulbs
are. Any ideas on what the problem can be. Thanks

Check bulb. Running lights are in a different circuit
I put a new bulb in. No luck. Thanks for the feedback. I'm going nuts trying to figure it out.lol I even took the bulb from the right side tail light and put it in the left one and still no luck. I do notice though that when my park lights are on and I have the right side blinker on the left side bulb will fade in and out just a little bit like it's in rhythm with the right side blinker. I know it sounds crazey.lol
Ur missing the ground wire, that wire ur talking about it's probably ur ground, test it for voltage first, if no voltage present, connect to ground and try it
Where would be the ideal place to ground it?
Replace light bulb. Bulb has 2 circuits 1 for running light and the other one for brake
same thing left side no brake light,no turn light, replace bulb, nothing, replace, socket still nothing help
I have this problem when I can't figure it out
Im having the same exact problem I've changed everything and still nothing

I am dealing with the same issue....I'm going to bite the bullet and go after the turn signal switch...I thought it was the isolated light also...but hooked up my trailer and same issue...I had an issue in the past with the wiring harness connector....so I looped a wire to bypass the connector...still no results...so Amazon has the switch for $20 and O'Reilly has it for $100
Has anyone figured this out yet? I'm having this issue. I even when as far as replacing the entire brake light harness. How did everyone else solve issue?
Same issue here....right side. No brake or turn signal Trailer lighting doesn't work on right side either! :(
Does anyone have a fix for this problem?

I replaced the turn signal switch and it fixed my problem
I ended up giving up and taking it to the dealership. For mine it was the connection at the C405 was loose. The mechanic had already went home by the time I got there to ask any more questions.
Just came off of my warranty.. such bullshit!! Ford must have a 3 year best before date on their shitty vehicles. After that they fall apart I’ve gone thru 3 sets of tires because of a speed wobble since it was new .. they honoured them under warranty but still haven’t fixed the problem and they’ve tested the alignment and everything with their “top of the line” cutting edge technology vibration detection units.. nope still the same vibration around 60km and 120 Also went thru 3 different sets of fog lights because the bulbs burn to hot so the niche(casing) shatters from over heating And I Still have an undiagnosed, dead rear left brake light and turn signal but bulbs are fine!???

I am having a similar issue with my 1985 f350. When I turn on my hazards all of the lights work as they should. Right turn signal works just fine. When I hit left turn signal only the rear lights up and stays on and the left brake light is not working. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

All of my parking lights are working perfectly as well I know it is not a bulb issue
I have tried switching relays, bulbs and fuses. Everything works on the right side when using left side items mentioned. I have nothing on the left. Please tell me somebody has an answer for this.

I can't believe nobody has posted the answer here. The problem is in the body control module(BCM). Any time a bulb burns out or a short develops, it causes the BCM to shut off the power to the rear lights on that particular circuit. So replace the bulbs and check the connectors(C134 and C145) for corrosion. Once the problem is fixed, have the dealer reset the BCM.
Alouicious - You are right on the money. I took my truck to a repair shop NOT THE DEALER and that is exactly what it was. Only problem is, unlike other issues, there is no code shown on your instrument panel to let you know what there is a problem. My mechanic found the problem right away, no charge!
I'm having the same problem with my rear passenger side turn signal and brake light although running light works fine but I've noticed at least in my 01 that it's something inside my steering column at the harness plug on top and inside my headlight switch because if I turn the lights on and off a couple times it begins working again. But it's still hit or miss and I'm frustrated at this point
It's the connection on the top of the steering column! Tilt your wheel up and try it... Bet they all work.
Mike was right it was the tilt wheel causing a bad connection!
mine seems to be in the turn signal switch. If I move the lever slowly, I can get it to flash fast until I move it all the way into position. It then flashes at the correct rate.

Mine is doing it now I found a short from where the jack that installed the aftermarket did shorty work, Curious as to how your turn signal switch is doing with your brake light issue
Just spent 21/2 hours chasing wires, have someone reset the body control module Alouicious spot on with your help thank you so much should have serched first i guess
Took my truck to dealer that reset the DCM
Took my truck to the dealer, they reaet the DCM
Mine was tilt steering. I moved it up and down, works fine, at least for now.
