1996 F250. Pulled my leaking rear fuel tank to replace it with a new one? Won't run on just one tank?

While waiting on new tank assembly some folks told me that I could drive it around with the front tank with zero problems.
1. I DID unhooked Batt cables before I started to remove old tank.
2. I DID release pressure from the fuel line though it didn't make the supposed "quick disconnect" any easier. Wow what a false name ofr something "quick" hehe.

Ok so with the truck fuel selector valve on front tank it will not start, build pressure or even fire off (combust) during ignition.
I took care not to destroy fuse/relays etc.

Any thoughts please? I'm getting this truck ready for my son to make extra money and need it right. ANY help in this matter would be GREATLY appreciated.

No neither tank ran the gauge proper. I attributed it to a possible anti-slosh module which the new tank assemble should help prove or disprove. The valve was always backwards (back was front etc) but switched tanks with ease to the moment of rear tank removal.

I dont remember bout the wiring into the selector valve...I'll go check...any more thoughts would be great. Thx!

Just FYI, others have said in other posts that for this yr/model one must connect the back 2 fuel lines etc. ??

So just read this tread and was wondering your outcome. I want to drop my front tank and was wondering if it's safe to run truck while tank is out. Selector value of course would be selected to rear tank. I'm only wanting to do this while I'm performing some other maintenance, it won't be long term. 96 F350 OBS dually 7.3

The fuel selector valve \ resivor, Don't forget the resivor is needed to maintain fuel pressure (or keep thee vehicle running) while selecting the other tank. If the resivor were drained on one side by virtue of no tank to supply the required prime for the the resivor input the resivor would loose the supply that normally maintains the side of the resivor that was tankless temporarily . You will need to reprime the resivor at the resivor\ valve A can of blaster of other means of refueling the dry input side of the resivor or all 6 ports for good measures. Ford never made such a valve\ resivor ? Or the people at the ntsb. or auto safety intity only know how to push pencils or keys. They should study physics or auto mechanice. So they cay spot a safety issue. Gasoline being pumped out of the rear tank onto a hot tailpipe is a serious issue. Maybe it will teach them the value of investigating a company that every day citizens can recognize the safety aspects of the resivor \ valve assembly that never appeared in ford truck literature ! Ford exec. BURN IN HELL 1
