How do I replace the spark plugs in my 2006 Ford F-250 super duty? Do I need special tools for this job?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The truck has good power when it runs but sometimes it stalls out when you come to a
stop or the engine will run really rough.  The engine will shake and it will shut off.  But if
you pump the gas and It'll go away.

Don't jump to conclusions about spark plugs. Matter of fact sounds like something else. Is the CEL on? and what mileage on truck? also what engine?

It's got 239540 miles on it and it's F-250 XLT Super duty 5.4L 3V Triton. That's what I got off the engine.

Engine running like crap at low speed and nicely at high speed are also symptoms of a vacuum leak.

Oh OK, How do I check for leaks? Where would the leaks normally be?

Check Engine Light. A little yellow icon resembles a motor

Look under the hood for any hoses off that don't seem to have a"home" and /or broken. Or a nipple with nothing attached.. If it has a vacuum brake booster, (the brake master cylinder is bolted to it) start there, it will have a bigger-than-most vacuum hose, like 1/2 or 3/8 Inside diameter. The booster could even be leaking inside, disconnect hose at booster and put you thumb on end of hose and listen for any changes in sounds if engine. Then PCV, Positive Crankcase Ventilation, another big hose that goes from valve cover to intake. Listen for a sucking sound. There is another way, but use extreme caution, spray carburetor cleaner from a can, just a LITTLE BIT at a time around intake manifold, if it begins to run faster the leak is there. Those engines are notorious for blowing spark plugs out like a bullet, but if that had happened it would know, it would not run well at all. Here is a good article suggest you read: It has a lot of good information, http://www.fordforumsonline.com/threads/locate-a-vacuum-leak.9

I have the same problem with my 2006 Ford F-250 super duty and I have a bad timing chain 2 cylinders that don't compress all the way and 1 the doesn't compress at all as well as camshaft sensor screens that continue to blow out it has 200000 mile and the guys at Ford are buddy's of mine and the recommended that I should just get a new motor because it was the cheaper route
