Ford F250 Triton coil clip wiring harness question

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Removing clip and wires (with pins) came out. No idea where the part that
holds the pins in went, so I got a new coil harness clip with wires on it. Will
splice wires on if can. Problem is that old harness has a green/red wire and a
brown/black wire, and the new coil clip wires are black and white. Can you tell
me which wire i connect the black one to and the white one? Thanks!!

Just match up the wires in the same way it was before. Colors do not matter. Splice the right wire to the right wire and the left wire to the left wire. Solder them and use shrink fit insulation.

GuruTVWHR, I'masking this for my husband and he said he has no clue if it has a fuel pump shut off switch and doesn't know how to tell or where it would be. F_O_R, he said he didn't pay attention to what way it came out the first time because he wasn't expecting it to come apart the way it did, and he can't just look at how another coil clip to see how it's connected, because the others are color-coded differently. Are you saying it doesn't matter which way the wires are hooked up? Thanks for the advice on the solder and shrink fit. And thank you both for replying!

I think it matters which wires go where (polarity). He cut the old one off? Did he keep it? If you have it you have all the information you need.

The last (and worst option) is to wire it up temporarily and see what happens. You have a 50/50 chance of getting it right. I doubt it will harm anything but I don't guarantee that.
