Headlights dim

Asked by nono12578 Jan 23, 2016 at 12:51 PM about the 2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty XLT LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced the bulbs and put the expensive
bulbs from O'Reilly's and I've also changed the
entire headlight assembly and the lights are still
very dim! Any idea what might cause this?

Older Ford Super Duty Trucks, circa 2000, have current limiting resistors and small gauge wire in their wire harness for the headlights; especially Canadian sourced trucks. You'll have to upgrade the harness. I'm not sure if this was required in Canada or just Ford trying to save a few bucks on the headlight electrical system, but it is a widespread complaint as the headlight output is pathetic.
