Flickering dash and head lights

Asked by RJutras Sep 09, 2019 at 06:35 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently when I start my 2002 Trailblazer all of the dash and head lights flicker
rapidly. There is also a clicking noise associated with the flickering. What is
causing this and how do I fix it?

Check your spark plug wire and see if it is shorting out against one of the wires leading to your lights ..Trace down the clicking sound and see if it's the bad connection that leads to your light circuit hold on wires on the back of your lights the bottom of your fuse box or between the dash and the firewall the wire harness that goes out to lights see if somewhere you have a bad connector in

There are no spark plug wires on the i6 engine lol. I'd at least check your charging system first. Engine off, better should be close to 12V. Engine on, with headlights, and AC on, voltage should be close to 14V. Where's the ticking coming from? A bad alternator can cause flickering. Was the battery disconnected recently? Can you download a video of the sound/flickering? Report back, see if we can narrow this down at least.
