Transmission won’t change gears

I start my car push brake pedal and shift the shifter
moves but on the dashboard indicator does nothing
any one have some advice on what to look for

$6 part. It's the plastic bushing on your linkage under the vehicle. I keep a spare with me. Look at the "Help!" section # 14057. In a pinch, use zip ties to get ya going again.
