?!?help?! Key stuck, key released button trick, but still no start??!!

Asked by SHEchevy May 09, 2019 at 03:34 AM about the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer LTZ 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Got in my car (2002)
240,000
Turned to crank and key was stuck, thought
possibly the steering wheel was locked
nope.
At this point it is stuck in accessory mode,
so
it drained the battery__which is brand new
as well as the alternator__ finally I
researched and found out how to stick a
screwdriver in the little spot under the
ignition that release's key--prior I had
removed battery and let AutoZone give it a
recharge all the way up ...
I went back to try to crank it thinking it would
start right back up and it did not. Everything
seems fine but all the lights come on on the
dash but won't crank or start the key is still
not letting me take it out and won't turn all
the way back off...so now the big question is
how do I figure out if it's the starter, ignition
switch, something to do with anti theft
system??? Or even if it has to do with that.
I'm not a mechanic but I am capable of
simple procedures with basic tools. Pull
apart is also 3 blocks away.

Make sure your terminals are tight on your battery. Likely it's your ignition switch. Also, check ground on tranny hump on passenger side. 1 screw, pull carpet back, I sanded mine to bare metal. That ground handles a lot of things.
