06 Ford PSD won't start, no click.. nothing.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have driven this truck since new.  After 145k, It would not start, no click ...
nothing after stopping in a rest area.  Batteries good and charged, all
connections checked good.  One grd term on batt.  was loose but had no
effect.

After 45 minutes, it cranked normally and we continued on.  One month later
it did the same thing, I put it in Neutral and it started right up.

I have no clue what the problem could be.

There might be problem with transmission range sensor? It's always a good idea, with automatic, if starter motor won't crank in park, try it in neutral. The diagram is part of your starter circuit. For testing you can usually jump the load side of starter relay just to see if starter motor will crank the engine? If you ever try that, make sure transmission is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. When you use the jumper, your bypassing the control side of relay. Make sure vehicle can't move, when testing.
