Why does car whine when accelerating or idling?

I'd look at the power steering fluid reservoir. Be sure there is enough of the CORRECT fluid. If low, top off with correct p/s fluid and see if noise goes away after a few turns. If not, the pump may be the culprit. Replacing is not horribly expensive, a good MB shop should be able to do it easily.
Thank you so much. That was very helpful and I didn't even think of that.
Check for loose belt and low power steering fluid. When u top it off, rotate wheels all the way to each side for a few times to get rid of any air pockets in the steering system
Mine sounds like the air conditioning
