Honda Odyssey Alternator and Transmission Problems
We have a 2006 Honda Odyssey with 174k miles on it. On Thursday night, the
dash lit up with the battery, signaling that the battery wasn't being charged. We
got it to the service repair shop within a few miles, and they replaced the
alternator. We got it back the next day, and drove about 25 miles, parked for a
few hours, and then began to drive home. At the first stop light, the car was in
Drive, but when we accelerated, it acted as if it was in Neutral. All of the gears
were the same. We turned it off, then back on again, and it drove for a few
minutes before again shifting into Neutral. We had it towed back to the original
service repair shop, thinking it had something to do with the repair we had just
had that day on the alternator. Now they are telling us we need to replace the
transmission. Could this be caused by the alternator/repair, or is it coincidental
that both the alternator and transmission went out within 24 hours of each
other?
