should be if when you spun the crank it was on the compression side of the stroke... what size motor?

if it has a 4.3 vortec you will know if so I believe the firing order is 1,6,5,4,3,2 which means when you line up the dimples on the distributor, keep in mind the rotor is going to spin a little it should seat all the way down and pointing at the 6 on the distributor. if it dont seat all the way down you can either turn the crank til it does, or take a flat head screwdriver and turn the oil pump shaft until it lines up with the piece in the very bottom of the distributor
