what problems are you having right now? how is the truck running?
when put to on position (not using the starter), does it light up?
it should be on in buld check with key on engine off initially for i think 7 seconds if yes check engine light works and there is no problem that the computer sees if not, does the brake indicator, air bag, DRL indicator work?
sounds like the bulb for it is blown. Happened to my 96 Jimmy. When you turn the key on with the engine still off it should light up. If nothing else on your dash lights up either then it may be a bigger problem. To get to the bulb you have to drop the steering column to remove the instrument panel to access the bulb. I had to improvise putting a new bulb in. A chevy dealer might sell the actual bulb/socket (it is one piece that twists out of the panel).
