Floor Shifter in 1997 Chevy S10 extended cab

Asked by Carnut5597 Feb 08, 2019 at 08:17 PM about the 1997 Chevrolet S-10 RWD

Question type: General

Any idea how many 1997 Chevy S10
extended cab trucks came with an automatic
in the floor and a console? This is the first
one I have ever seen.

Hmmmm.....I've never heard of one. It's possible the truck used to be a manual shift and somebody converted it

I have a 97 S10 ext ca. V6 auto floor shift. This truck has the W engine, ZQ8 suspension. 3 door cab with a fold up jump seat behind passenger seat. Found at farm auction- been parked for a couple years (?). Resuscitated back to service.

It's a console from a blazer, Jimmy or bravada. It's a popular mod for us s series truck guys. To my knowledge no automatic s10 or Sonoma came from the factory with a center console with a shifter

I didn’t think mine had been tampered with. Everything has the proper bolts in the floor and correct shift cable. My Dad bought it in late 2018 with only 123,000 miles from the original owner. Dad passed away last January 23 and I have the truck.

Yeah its pretty rare like a 5 speed 4.3 l equipped s- 10 they just weren't common, but a cable swap would be feasible as the bravada is the same thing Also if you want to put in a double din stereo(2002 or before) a bravada will bolt in no cutting I'm told

I have a 2000 S10 Xtreme that has the floor shift automatic with the console. I now feel really lucky to have it!

I own a 1997 Chevy S10 LS with 4.3 L V6 Vortec engine with 87K miles, it came with the 4-spd auto w/OD floor shift with center console. 1997 was the 1st year GM offered the Auto floor shift. (I have the 1997 GM marketing sheet that offers the floor shift with bucket seat.) I need help locating a BTSI for the floor shift, so far all I can find is a BTSI for column shift. 100% of parts suppliers/ dealers tell me the 1997 Chevy S10 did not come with floor shift. I welcome your input. thank you

Hello.... Please translate "BTSI" into a complete part for me, so I can try & help, if you still need it !!! I have a 2000 S10 Xtreme (ZQ8), 4.3L, 4L60e trans, ext cab, w/3rd door, & stepside bed. It had a center console but with a column shifter. I replaced the console with one from a Bravada and a center mounted floor shifter complete..... GOOD LUCK, Rick

Hello....& P.S. My original, stock 2000 bucket seats and center console w/a cassette player (& harness pigtail) in medium grey fabric, that I swapped out, are "FOR SALE". Truck only has 41,300 miles on it. Only flaw in the interior is (1) small blemish on the driver's seat about an 1/8" in diameter, probably from a hot cigarette ash! If you're interested.....send me an email!!! THANKS, Rick
