Is there a computor for a swaped out v6 for a v8

We have a 1998 s10 pick up wih a v8 motor we keep getting the battery lihgt   
we have a new battery and tested everything with a volt meter any ideas? We
also checked the fuses

What engine? Normally you would use the computer that went with the V8.

In answer to your question about the motor we have a 350ci what we need to know is if we need a v8 computer there is a computer but we dont know if its the right one or if its connected!
