It's on the very back of the engine. has 2 bolts that holds it on. It will have a black plug on top, undo the plug before taking the bolts off

I don't remember if yours has a feedback or not - some S10 had thermal sensors though that can really confuse the reason WHY the CEL is lit when the EGR is new or recently replaced. There's also the prospect that the supply line is clogged from lack of decently- spaced oil changes. I've fought this problem with long overdue and erratic oil changes (and oils from Pennsylvania. ... hint, hint).
Can the EGR sensor run the battery down very quickly if it's grounded out
anything could ground it out, but generally u wld worry more about what maybe you are saying is the hot wire has burnt up makin a short where as u wld probably get a blown fuse or burnt wires.most all vehicles work from having a ground,u cld probably check voltage on the connection for right power range or use ohm meter to check part.sorry I don't know the amount on the voltage or ohm reading.u can probably look it up.i wld think 5 volts and 2 to 3 ohm steady.if it raises and ur holding good connection, it bad part.but to know, double check
