Transmission problem?

Asked by Trey Jan 24, 2022 at 10:39 AM about the 2000 Chevrolet S-10 LS 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2000 s10 4x4 automatic wont shift from park.
Yesterday, it would but would only get to 15/20
mph before dropping 1st and hitting neutral. Any
thoughts on what may be the issue?

First check the fluid, you might have a leak and or it is low. Is it black? I would say the short answer is a worn out trans. So time for a rebuild. Probably a damage torque convertor. How many miles on the trans?

Transmission has around 200k. Fluid looks and smells like tranny fluid to me. Kinda leaning toward a rebuild but myself. Could the 4wd actuator have anything to do with it?
