Without it under throttle you'll notice your vents will start blowing to both defrost and floor no matter the setting. It's not nessesary but it's beneficial

If yours is a V6 ,like mine it's located under the finder but on top of the wheel well in front of the driver. You can't see it but a singe line connects to it right behind the ABS module. I bet the vacuum line broke off at the nipple so you cant get one back on it. I was able to see it with a mirror and a flash light.

Hello, My name is Willem and live in The Netherlands. According to the question and answers here something isn't clear to me. I have a 97 S10 and also have a accumulator for vacuum. This is attached to the hood. No the former owner has disconnected the vacuumhose from the accumulator. What does this do and should i reconnect this again.?

It's not really vital to have, the main thing it helps with is keeping vacuum pressure to the vents while accelerating. The vent selection on these trucks is vacuum actuated, if you put the truck under load for a decent period of time you'll notice the vents will start to blow from the defrost and floor, when you let off the gas pedal they will return to normal. The vacuum resivoir (accumulator) just helps that scenario not happen as quickly
