Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced the thermostat and the
coolant sensor so why is my thermostat
temperature gauge sitting on 100 and not
moving and when I'm sitting still in traffic it
wants to rev up and take off and then the
temperature gauge Rises like it's overheating
but it's not overheating and the oil level is
perfect what's wrong with my truck

Sounds like a problem with the wiring going to the coolant temperature sensor or the plug that plugs into the sensor itself. If the wire has a bad connection or is disconnected the temperature gauge on the dash won't move. But if the wiring has a bare spot and touches something metal it will drive the gauge on the dash to hot. So inspect the wires going to the sensor and the plug for the sensor. Hope that helps! Jim

Thank u so much for that information. I unplugged the wire that is connected to the coolant sensor and put some electrical tape around what was there, plugged it back in and now my gauges r working normal again. When I changed that sensor, I believe that I didn't put back on tightly enough. So thank u again very much for that outstanding information that fixed my problem. Good people.. Thanx

Well it only lasted a couple of days, it's back to the same, temp gage is sitting on 100 and it wants to Rev up very high, basically drive its self when I am putting on the brake. When the truck does this the temp gauge goes up way to hot, but it's not hot or over heating, then it will eventually shut the truck off? What is it doing this for?

I have a new question please, I have had a problem with the heater putting out warm air. The blower is good, the switch is good, the thermostat is good now and I went to check the fuse on the side of the dash only to find a fuse fell out when I took the cover off. Well after a lot of looking, searching for a problem I found it. My #20 fuse is for my heater, well there is nothing in the slot to plug in the fuse, there is nothing to hold the fuse in place. I took it apart to see if I can see a problem however the wires r so tight u really can't move the fuse panel much at all. Any ideas how or if I can insert something in that slot to hold the fuse? Please help if u r able... Thank you
