car back fires

motor rebuilt set timming but motor will not idle and it dosnt level out and then stalls. at 1000 rpm but rpm gauge shows that the reves go up an down is that still timming or could there be some thing else wrong

how is your fuel supply? Usually backfiring is timing related, but I'd still check your fuel pressure.
