An aftermarket turbo intercooler will go a long way towards cooling down your engine and improving performance. These are typically mounted in front of and below the radiator.
You can get a lower temp thrmostat and a big front mount intercooler. Better performance and the big front mount just looks good.
If you are needing to cool down the engine theres something wrong man. A stock SRT-4 should not be overheating unless you have one heavy foot. Details or reason why its overheating? And as far as a larger FMIC goes, if youre doing the install yourself you may as well go the whole nine yards and invest in a hardpipe with a welded flange on it for mounting a HKS SSQV or a Turbo XS RFL BOv. If youre really serious about decreasing the Temp, make yourself an Intercooler sprayer.
The stock intercooler is efficient even up to the Mopar Stage 3. The hood scoop keeps things cool as well. But yeah...making an intercooler sprayer or buying a water injection kit are two options...you can always upgrade to a large fmic....those always look cool...lol.
why would you need to waste money on a front mount and who ever mentioned a blow off valve to decrease the temp is dumb all it does is make a cool sound lol oh and by the way its a neon that is where you went wrong my grandma drives one of those
larger fron mount intercooler will help also an aftermarket ligthweight radiator, such as Koyo, will save you a little wieght and cool better an oil cooler would be helpful too cooler oil keeps the it running longer
I had a SRT and the 180 thermostat worked great. And the big front mounts just look good, you won't really need one until you break like 500bhp. Neons rule baby! lol
Also, you could put in a JDM hoodlift. I did it, it works, they're not pointless. 3 or 4 washers would be good. do that and get the thermo, cheap and works great. Or, the best you could do is just take your hood off, but thats not highly recommended ;)
Stock trubo does not require a Big front mount, the factory one is plenty good. Big intercooler on stock set up will decrease the inlet air temp, but most likely u will see a drop in boost depending on the intercooler. Reasearch shows that the Sparco upgrade is the best intercooler for the srt-4. It had a decent drop in air temp and showed 0.1 drop in boost. Reasearch also showed that there was no sugnificant gains from aftermarket compared to stock. Rad flush, new coolant, water weter and a 180 degree thermostat will have u running sweet....BIG TURBO IS DIFFERENT STORY.
Actually a blow out valve releases excess air pressure as to not ruin the engine and turbo. And an SRT-4 is nothing like a Neon. Much better than your Lancer!
Dude you need to do your research before you start talking shit. Ive got an SRT-4 that has stage 2 that does 12 seconds and a 1st gen Neon with a 2.4L swap that does 9s. So before you go talkin bout what your grandma drives look at what I drive motherfucker.
Just bought 2004srt 4 what the stock boost psi.....???
- The radiator has two fans; be sure that both fans are running. (it is common for the second plug to break and come lose.) - Be sure that both gaskets on the radiator cap are making a good seal. (the top of the flange can become pitted, preventing a proper seal.) - The green stuff may work better, but do not mix green with red. (when the two are mixed, it forms a jell that can clog the system.)

look into getting a cool running thermostat, maybe 165 or 170 degree thermo will work great, mishimoto makes them, also make sure your water pump is working properly to get the best cooling you need to have proper circulation in your cooling system. also may want to check into getting some royal purple- purple ice, it helps keep the coolant from corroding and keeps things lubricated and working cooler. I added some to my pt cruiser gt and noticed a big difference.
