What is wrong with my impala???

Asked by Marty Feb 27, 2015 at 01:51 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet Impala FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2001 Chevy Impala loses coolant
like no other. Every 2 days I will have
to top it off with anti freeze. When I
first drive the car my temputure will
rise almost to the red, and then it
goes back down but while it does
that you'll hear a screaming sound
when it gets past half my radiator fan
blows just fine and also coolant
comes back into the jug. Please help
with suggestions

The first thing to do is find where it is leaking from, if you don't see any visible sign of puddling under the car it might be losing coolant through a bad head gasket (check your oil!). Other than your leak, it sounds as if you have a bad water pump.
