Spark plugs

Asked by Troy Apr 07, 2017 at 04:22 PM about the 1995 Dodge RAM 1500 LT RWD

Question type: General

On my 95 dodge ram I pulled the spark
plugs out to clean them and noticed
that plugs 1,3,5,7 didn't look bad at all
but 2,4,6,8 looked to be fouled out
what would cause this to happen and
what can I do to resolve this issue?

Oil fouling or carbon buildup? Oil would be from leaking valve stem seals or worn oil control rings. Carbon is running rich. Installing spark plugs from a hotter heat range can burn off excess oil.

It looks to be carbon build up, I've been trying to get this truck to run right for about a week. I can getting to start and idle barely at idle the RPM go up and down and as soon as you put it in a gear it asks like it's not getting enough of something or to much. When I try and take off it spits and sputters and starts to back fire our the exhaust.I have replaced just about everything I can think of.
