Was there any warning sign before failure or any unusual noise (minus the 6K scream) during the failure? Have you checked under the pick up to see if the drive shaft is still in tact? Is there any oily residue all over the bottom of the pick up? Have you tried starting the pick up again, and shift it thru all the gears SLOWLY and see if you get a reaction? Without more info, anything mentioned here is a guess about the tranny, which might involve: flex plate and/or torque converter failure, the tranny oil pump, band, drum or clutch pack failure.
