Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1995 V8/Hemi
Dodge Ram 1500
4x4"Laramie" Series
pickup will drive a few
miles,  then starts
sputtering, then dies,
sometimes with a
backfire,  when trying
to restart. Wait 20 to
30 minutes,  restarts
often,  sometimes
doesn't. Sometimes it
will make it but a few
blocks,  or just sitting
& idling will die. Told I
had wrong size
battery,  changed it,
could this be it?
Fuel/Filter Pump?
$1,000s of work done
at Firestone &
dealership , Told 35
years of combined
mechanics
experience & don't
know what's wrong
with my truck
Can someone help
me?

With the backfire it sounds like the crank sensor is going into a thermal open .As these are known failures on Chrysler products I would replace it along with the cam sensor. These will not set a code unless they short. HTH
