low transmission fluid level would do this...you must check the transmission Running, in Park, with the parking brake set~ level must be between the two hash marks one indicating full hot and the other full cold~ do not mix transmission fluid types~

....perhaps this was done to you....some one filled up with TYPE F when dexron was called for...you must look at the owner's manual to decide what is t he correct type to be usin'~

all dodge take ATF4 you'll see it also if your going to go that fair you need to flush the system witch means you'll have to take the pan off twice to do it right what you do is drain whats in there and sens the torque converter holds 2 qorts you'll have to put the pan back on without the filter on and run it for about a minute or to then pull the pan back off and drain it ounce again and then put your new filter and gasket back on and fill it with how ever much came out of your truck
