1996 ram 1500

Asked by GuruLS5DF Apr 08, 2019 at 07:43 PM about the 1996 Dodge RAM 1500 LT RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1996 ram 1500 5.9 automatic. No crank
issue. All lights come on everything works but
won’t crank. No clicking.. nothing. Thought it was
neutral safety switch.. replaced it and still nothing.
Traced all wires and everything looks as it should..
The only way I can get it to start it to put the
ignition in the on position and manually close the
the starter relay in the fuze box under the hood.
Anyone else have any other ideas??

I would guess/check the ignition switch in the steering column. The wires connecting the ig sw tend to run hot. Mite be a bad wire or switch.
