How can i start a 1996 dodge ram 1500 4x4?

Is it not getting fire or fuel?

They put fuel to help it start but it just wont not even a spark we even called an electric to take a look at it but he said he cant figure out what it is

No we live in california, we used to live in utah and that is were we baught the truck but we have been here for a while, one day it started making some noise everytime we would start it, thats when they came to the conclusion that it was the transmission

Pull the distributor cap off. Underneath it is the pick up for the distributor. Easy to change. Replace it and the distributor cap & button. The other thing it could be is the coil that is bolted to the right front of the engine.

the fly wheel sensor wire is trapped between bell housing and block shorting out square wave pickup, it is located at the right rear of engine or passenger side fix this and it will start

Check your crankshaft sensor it's on the back of the motor right over top of the transmission if you pinched a wire into while replacing the transmission it will it will just sit there and turn over crankshaft sensors about $52 at Advance Auto Parts. Found this out the hard way last year replace my transmission in a 96 Dodge Ram with the 5:2 and when I was done it wouldn't crank come to find out i a pinched wire on the crankshaft sensor

Phillip is right. I learned this the hard way. I had two of these same trucks and one of them just went out and have no indication. I had to learn the hard way and the second truck was visibly broken off. So I got a new crankshaft position sensor then ran into a problem, someone had cut the original pigtail and direct wired the sensor before. Had many people look at it and couldn’t figure out the order it went in. The truck is supposed to show rpm’s when you are cranking on it. If it doesn’t then it’s wrong. I finally figured it out after months. Now it runs like a dream
