i have a 97 dodge ram 4x4 im getting a p0740 code tcc

Lock-up operation, however, is prohibited when A/T fluid temperature is too low. When the accelerator pedal is depressed (less than 2/8) in lock-up condition, the engine speed should not change abruptly. If there is a big jump in engine speed, there is no lock-up.

the fluid has been changed with no difference in shifting my 98 is a parts truck so I was wondering if the transmission will fit in my 97

It may, not sure, why not fix what you have in there? It sound like a solenoid that just is bad.

Looks like just the one, a torque converter clutch solenoid. The code does not indicate any other problems, and it doesn't sound like the trany is slipping. Solenoids going bad are a common problem with Dodge and can be repaired.
