Is there an outside adustment to help an automatic transmission grab into gears?

Asked by johnmoreno Nov 04, 2013 at 06:56 AM about the 1997 Dodge RAM 1500 LT 4WD

After sitting overnight or longer it does not grab any gears until the engine is reved up high. After that it shifts all gears fine. Fluid is full. I did replace this transmission 2 years ago and it shifted fine. This is not a daily driven truck.

dont know why but my 97 diesel does the same but if i put it in neutral and run it a min it takes off fine
