put new fuel pump in gas gauge does not work, help me if you can.

The fuel pump has a float the has wires attached , if they got pinched or not hooked up it will not read, when you disconnect the main wiring harness from the tank then turn the key on, the gauge should go all the way over past full, since it sees no resistance, that tells you the gauge is working ,it just needs to be told how far to go from the the sending unit, if this is true, you have to go back in the tank, removing the bed really takes about 10 minutes, and the tank is right there.....

When I unplug the fuel pump the gauge didn't move still shows empty new pump
