Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 1998 1500 dodge ram. Drives jus fine bt as
soon as I come to a stop my rpms seem to lower
and truck wants to stall. As I push the gas the truck
will not accelerate however, waiting a minute or 2
the rpms raise back to normal n truck is okay
again. I also get a loud hissing noise followed by
stalling after I leave the truck in park at idle in my
driveway after a few minutes. Any help on this ?

Clean or replace the idle air control valve on the back of the throttle body first, second clean or replace the intake air temp sensor located on the #1 intake runner which is on the top passenger side near the front of the intake manifold...use spray carb or intake cleaner. The intake temp sensor could be getting coated with oil if the plenum seal is bad. Dodge didn't use mass air flow with the 2nd gen rams.
Clean out your throttle body with brake cleaner and a tooth brush should fix your problem fixed mine
I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.9 I ended up doing all the things said above and it still didn't fix it it ended up being the computer that I had to replace myself
