Why does my windshield wiper motor fail when outside temp falls below freezing?

Asked by Suemac Jan 08, 2015 at 01:15 PM about the 1998 Dodge RAM 1500 ST Club Cab LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Haven't used this before but will give it a try. Background: I have a '98 Dodge Ram1500 4wd w/ac. My wiper pump stopped working about 6 months ago. Three days ago the wipers stopped working when the temp outside dropped below freezing. Thought the motor was gone. Half way to work, about 40 min into the drive, the wipers came on. Must've warmed up. Need to know why the motor is freezing up. Can you help?
