you will have to check the bolt pattern on each vehicles and see if they macth up also check to see if the rims you are sizeing up have a universal bolt pattern if so they just might fit another thing you could do is buy the spacer with the bolt pattern that you need to fit your ride you this allows you to take a 5x120 rim and turn it into a 5x5.5 bolt pattern i hope this info helps you

the surest way is remove one front wheel and try it. You got rim offset to consider, caliber clearance ,frame rub, bolt pattern, and you'll inherently have a speedo error, abs error and shift pattern change.

Probably not. On most the bolt pattern is the same but the center of axle flange is larger on the earlier models. This will not allow the rim to go all the way against the axle flange. But try one and see.

If you have this style rim it will probably not work.

Because this is larger on the earlier models. But you might get lucky and they may fit.

Now some guys have taken a small round flapper sanding wheel and made the opening on the back of their newer style rims larger so they will slide all the way on. There is plenty of metal on the rims to make it work but I personally don't advice it.

I have seen several trucks with the newer ram wheels-both of the ones pictured above-installed on 94-01 rams.

I have rims from a 2007 on a 1997 with no modifications needed. The center hole in the 2007 rim is actually larger on the newer wheels than on the 1997 so it fits easily. Dandy is only half right above. The earlier 1988-93 axle hub is larger than both 94-01 and newer, but the newest is larger than the 94-01.

I am trying the same thing, with the second pictured rim. It appears that 1. Studs seem to be short 2. Dust cover on front spindle must be removed. Please advise

Heard where one owner used rim off set spacers to allow his to mount and clear all dust covers. Just a thought.

To each his own. It's your truck Robert so I am not criticizing you or your choices, but I respectfully disagree and if mine I wouldn't. the stock wheels and tires are engineered to work best with stock spindles, bearings, wheel speed sensors, BRAKES.. sppedometer/odo would either need re-calibration or live with it being inaccurate. Spacers, adapters and off-sets change the load-carrying center on the bearing. I'm just old, and conservative. (not talking politics), conservative in radical changes from stock. too many issues. Correct me if I am wrong but the '98 has 16" rims? that's a LOT

does anyone know of way to get the rims to fit? maybe a adapter or hub swap from the newer model from a junk yard or something?

Just placed 2007 20 inch factory Ram wheels on my 1999 1500. They do not go straight on you have to purchase wheel spacers 5 x 139.7 (5.5) to clear the centrehub section on the front wheel. the spacers I purchased were 1/2 inch thickness and worked fine.

Robert, also check the stud sizes,, in 2002 the 1500 ram went to a 9/16" dia. lug stud,, 94-01 1500's have a 1/2" but that and the acual wheel diameter ie: 16,17,18 or what ever all ram 1500's are 5.5.5 (139.7) at least from 94 and up. and the center hole may have changed, not sure on that, most are 77.8mm this website has been alot of help to me,,, http://www.roadkillcustoms.com/hot-rods-rat-rods/Wheel-Bolt-Pattern- Cross-Reference-Database-CL.asp? I own a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500. I discovered that new Dodge rims starting from 2002 and up will not fit the front wheel because the hub is larger than the Center hole will allow. The bolt pattern was good at 139.7mm. I bought a 1" spacer and it just cleared the hub. The ram logo center piece will have to be trimmed to fit. The rear fits perfectly. The front plastic wheel well in the back will need to be trimmed and the metal behind it hit with a heavy mallet about 1" for clearance. The corner of the front bumper will have to be trimmed about an inch as well. The speedometer will have to be adjusted as with a bigger wheel, it will read slower. Don't get a speeding ticket! I went through a tough time figuring this out. Hope this helps you to make a good decision.

I forgot to mention: I bought a 2008 rim that is 20". If you install a smaller rim, there will be more clearance and the wheel well mods might not have to be done. 17 or 18" maybe.

to you guys who got the newer Dodge Ram rims to fit on your 99 Dodge Ram 1500 4x2. Did anybody have to buy extra long lug nuts with the spacers? or will a 1/2x 20mm work?

I had to cut about 1/2 inch off my rotors to make replica 22" wheels to fit on my 1999 dodge ram 1500. Didnt affect anything but the dust covers didn't fit. Lots of modifying that I wouldn't recommend if you don't have the time and tools to do it right.

I have a beater 06 Ram 1500 that was fixed after an accident and has aftermarket rims when purchased. We can't seem to balance them (with new tires) and I am looking for a some 20" basic stock wheels that don't have to be very pretty, just straight! If anyone has a set, I would be happy to consider them. I'm in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. Thanks

I just installed 2015 Dodge Laramie 20x9 Wheels with 35/13.50/20 tires onto my 99 5.9 Magnum 4x4. I have a 2.5” leveling kit on the truck and NOTHING else. Tires clear even at full lock. Bolted straight up with ZERO ISSUES.

I have a 87 full size Dodge and I'm trying to put the same rims on it. I'm having issues with the front hole in center of rim being to small to fit all the way up. Suggestions.

I use 5 x 5.5 to 5 x 5.5 1” 1/2 spacer. It work nice, my tires are 285 55 r20

Yes they will. I have 2018 time on my 99. You just have to use your stock lugs. Only changes from ram are the threads on the studs. Patteren has changed on the 2019. Anything before 2019 will fit, though snug.

Did you have to do any modifications to make them fit

The chrome lug nuts that came with these wheels dont grab the lugs. I had to use my venom spikes I had been saving..

Will 20” Ram rims from an 2008 fit the Ram classic 2019? I saw the post that the pattern changed in 2019??

My 98 dodge Ram 1500 has 20 inch wheels off of a 2004 dodge Ram. Need spacers on the front.

I ground down the hub center some and opened up the hole on the wheel slightly. The hub cap has to be removed so the dust cover can stick through the wheel center. Big improvement over the wimpy 16's and 245's that was on it. I used a 55 series 275 and have no clearance issues.

10

How much did you have to grind? When you did that, any clearance problems with brakes rotors. II have them on with spacers now also. Studs are too short, when I get new tires the guys freak out. if I don't grind, can someone detail getting longer studs

1 people found this helpful.
70

Nope, no clearance problems at all. Ground about 5 mm wider and 5mm deep with a 4" disc and ground about 1 or 2mm off the base of the hub/disc.
