Asked by Jean-vincent Jan 28, 2019 at 07:42 PM about the 1999 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie SLT Quad Cab 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I'm getting a random misfire on random cylinders. I
replaced the cap, rotor, wires, plugs, coil, fuel sending unit.
5.2L I thought maybe the mass air flow sensor?

I'd put a scanner on it but very possible your crankshaft sensor it will cause random misfire on all cylinders
Does the distributor shaft wobble?

This doesnt have a mass airflow sensor it only uses a map sensor, and goes for any ram, pt cruiser, sebring, jeep, etc...
Keep throwing parts at it and you might eventually get it fixed. Better yet, take it to someone that knows what they are doing. It might save you some money.

Many times, the crank position sensor going out can cause these kinda things. Can you "feel" the misfires or are they just setting off the check engine lite? If it does turn out to be the crank position sensor, make sure you use a mopar replacement.
