Can i get carbon monoxide poisoning?
I have a 99' Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 V8 . Recently, it
has started acting up. We've replaced the IAC and
cleaned the throttle body but so far, that's all we've
done, and nothing has changed. Here are the
symptoms: 1.) The exhaust smell is extremely rich,
it burns my eyes and my nose. I can't strange to be
around it. That's only when I'm standing outside
the truck. However, when I'm riding in the truck it's
still smells strong although no burning of the eyes
or nose. 2.) When idling, it wants to stall out. About
half the time it will stall out and the other half, it
manages to rev itself up enough to keep from
stalling. It's weird. It sounds lousy. It back firesamd
sputters and puhts along, lurching & jerking
forward, for about 10-20 seconds until finally it
gets up the gumption to start moving again. If you
put it in neutral anytime you have to stop and keep
your foot pressed on the gas, feeding it fuel, then
throw it into drive when the light turns Green, all
the while never letting off the gas, then it won't
usually do the 'sputtering & lurching forward' thing.
3.) When driving, if I'm not driving fast enough i
have to put it in 1st or 2nd gear to keep it from
sputtering, even though i never let off the gas, but i
wasn't pushing on the pedal hard enough. 4.) There
is a new noise. A hissing sound. The sound of air
being sucked through a hole or blown out of a hole.
This hissing sound is coming from directly under
the hood, i believe in the center. When I'm driving i
feel like i can hear it through the a/c. CAN
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH SOME
POTENTIAL DIAGNOSES? I COULD POTENTIALLY
SPEND THOUSANDS TRYING TO FIGURE THIS
OUT MYSELF. AND I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF
MONEY. ANY HELP IS WELCOMED. THANKS!
