1999 magnum 318 cu 4x4 low oil pressure oil level good lifters will rattle slightly what is my problem

Asked by Alex99ramit Feb 22, 2015 at 01:39 PM about the 1999 Dodge RAM 1500 ST Club Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

oil pressure problem has been intermittent pressure from 75 or so to 30 psi pressure will change but lifters will rattle slightly when under a load when pressure is low. I will not run my truck like this it seems an eminent threat now I would not want to ruin my engine. Is my problem a clogged oil screen pickup or a bad pump?

Clogged or loose oil pick up screen and or tube, oil pump or maybe oil pump drive. I would think that if the engine is dirty inside that oil pickup screen is likely the cause. Could be an issue with the oil filter also.
