Floating valves is caused by over reving the engine. What exactly is wrong with your car?

Do you mean a flat lifter? In that case you will have noise and the valve will not open as far as it should.

If it's a floating lifter, that means the lifter is stuck in the bore where it goes up and down. You can try a little transmission fluid or Marvel Mystery Oil down the pushrod of the offending valve and let it soak for a day, then whack the rocker arm with a mallet. You have to take off the valve cover(s) and crank over the engine for this.
